28 February 2007 (J&D's House) - "Cheer up Stringy Dean"

Game 1 – 8 players - (1st Bazza, 2nd Ilan, 3rd JJ):

After a toast to new baby Young who was born earlier in the day, we started, rather late, a game of poker (9pm)

An amazing fold by Dean, with trip 4's, saved him a load of chips when Ilan showed trip 8's.

Dan won lots of chips from me with A4 vs my AJ hitting 2 pair on the flop

Dean (A9) put Jude (A8) all in with a full house. Jude called after hitting trip aces - Jude out.

Lee out next with KK to JJ's trip 8's

I won lots of chips back off Dan with 99

I won shed loads more chips off Charlie with Q10 (10 on flop) after I called Charlie's £5 bluff with A high

Charlie tripled up with A high

I knocked Dean out with A8 vs A6 with A onb flop and 8 on turn

Charlie was all in short stacked with King of clubs and an 8 - Ilan called with KK but Charlie hit runner, runner, runner, runner to win with a flush

Charlie was then all out soon after with 62

Ilan all in with J10 spades - JJ called with K9 but 3 spades on board and Ilan doubled up

Ilan doubled up again next hand with full house vs Dan

Next hand I knocked Dan out with A5 (2 pair) vs 78 (Dan on tilt from last hand )

I win huge amount of chips from JJ (pocket Jacks) with AK and an Ace hit on turn

JJ then had AJ. 8 on flop - no A no J. I had K8. JJ all in. I call. K on river, and JJ out in 3rd place

In the final hand of the game, I had A2, go all in, Ilan called - AA on flop and I end up winning with full house.

Game 2 – 6 players - (1st Dan , 2nd Charlie, 3rd Dean):

Ilan won big hand with 22 - two 2's on board - 4 of a kind. NICE ! Charlie almost wiped the cards off the table after the second 2 was dealt - you can imagine Ilan's horror and subsequent attempt to help Charlie put it all back as it was !

I split a big all-in-by-me pot with JJ when my A10 vs JJ's AK split with 6699 on the board
Next hand I went all in again (KJ spades) and split again with Ilan (99) when the board came AA555

I then doubled up with 66 vs Deans 86

After we had all cooled down from the stringbet-gate (see conversations below), Dan (88) knocked JJ out (K10) - nothing hit for JJ

Ilan (QQ) then knocked out by Charlie who hit a straight

Steamy Dean then knocked me out with trips on flop against my 2 pair

Dan continues:

"Tail of two swing hands
First against Dean who held the Ladies against my Ace something - Ace hit (Dean out shortly after)
Second against Charlie heads up - pre-flop no bets, flop is 89 something. i check (I have the 89). King on the turn, Charlie bets one red (we're on the max) which I call. The river helps no-one but Charlie bets three piles of red. I go all in. He calls revealing a K for top pair versus my two pair.

Over a couple of hands later - my Ace 3 diamonds holding up against Charlie's KQoff.

Well, what a night ! The conversation started off talking about the 9/11 conspiracy, followed by a discussion on county court judgements and mortgages. Dean had a great idea for a business idea - collecting sperm off students in the evening - storing it in a freezer overnight and delivering it to the sperm bank in the morning - collecting lots of £15's !! The best part of the evening, though, was in the second game (which, by the way was a very fun game for some reason - lots of jollity), after a string bet by Dean caused chaos. Lots of anger by Dean (later apologised !) and discussion, and arguments and heated debate after Dean put in his chips, as if calling, without saying a word (Ilan, next to act, took it as a call) but then Dean declared all in after retreating his hand after placing the 'calling' bet. After all was said and done, we all pretty much accepted it was a string bet, and as the rules of the house are that we don't allow or accept string bets, the all in part was rejected, causing normally good mannered Dean to steam steam steam, see red mist, shout at JJ and generally be very miserable. In the end, Dean won the hand, but I'm sure the discussions will continue and may end in a vote for the rule to be kept or removed (although Dean isn't here next week, but I guess will vote against the rule by proxy)....to be continued.........
