Happy New Year to you all. As you will all probably know, I (Barry) am taking over as Chief Blogger for this year. I am no writer (as you will see), but will try to at least reflect the poker and conversation from each week (and Liverpool's league position obviously!)
Anyway, I know you are all excited, so here goes, my Poker Elite Virgin blog..........
Game 1 - 10 players - (1st Dave, 2nd JJ, 3rd Dean):
Vic won the first big hand of the year going all in with trips vs my straight draw that never came.
Dean (twat, and wannabe cyclist) hit a full house on flop to win huge hand vs me (trip 3's)
Then me all in (AJ) Dave called with Q4 and hit 2 pair (*#*#&&**!!)
Then Dan out (to Lee) followed by Jude out (to Dave)
JJ doubles up vs Vic with trip 2’s vs Vics AJ (pair of J)
Dave then knocks Sharon, and then Vic out
and Lee takes out Ilan before Dave takes Lee out !!
JJ all in blind, Dean calls with A2 – JJ shows Aces and doubles up.
JJ knocks dean out and heads up Dave triumphs
Game 2 - 9 players - (1st Dean, 2nd JJ, 3rd Paul):
JJ won lots of chips in 2nd hand forcing Lee to make a decision. which he did (fold)
JJ won lots of chips in 4th hand (AJ) – 2 pair vs Ilan’s A7 (2 pair)
Ilan then out – A5 vs Dean’s A5 – Q hit
Lee doubled up vs JJ
I double up twice in a row – first against Dean with full (painted) house, and then against Dan with J’s (vs spade flush draw)
Vic hit a straight to knock Dan out
Dean won bucket full of chips from JJ (Full house) with four 9’s
Dave and JJ all in – split pot – 2 pairs and an Ace
Lee then all in – doubles up with AA
I went all in with trip 3’s – Dave calls with top pair and is decimated – out next hand
Vic (twat, but accomplished cyclist) then stupidly folded my cards for me after I had called – I forgot what I had until too late – would almost certainly have knocked lee out with Ace high flush vs Lee's K high flush
I then double up vs Lee with Q9 vs J10
before finally exiting with A9 to Pauls Q3 – Q on river (ouch)
Lee then out to JJ
Paul was then short-stacked and bluffed at a pot going all-in. Dean had the cards and called to KO Paul.
Heads up, Dean had a massive lead but JJ fought back to level before losing a couple of big hands. The winning hand saw Dean hit a full house.
Poker Rankings table for this week (well done Dean):
This year, one point is awarded for every £10 that you win. Winning a 10 player game earns you £70, and 7 points, whilst 2nd place would earn you £20 and thus 2 points. (to clarify, the table sorts by points, then by wins, then by total of 1st 2nds and 3rd places - thus Dean is above Dave having a first place and a 3rd place, to Dave's one placing)
Conversation Topics:
We all arrived to see a newly painted Jayson house, which everyone except Jude and Dean thought was very nice.
Dwarves apparently are in full time employment in Borehamwood for the next 3 weeks - in the camera runs in celeb big brother house.
Dan lasted all of 2 days in his new year's quest to stop smoking.
However, the most time, and laughter was aimed at Dean's new years resolution, to buy a bike and cycle to work (most) days. See later for the piss take!
Condolences:
Wishing a long life to Ilan and his family on the passing away of Grandpa Harry (aged 90) on Sunday 30th Dec 2006. May his dear soul rest in peace.
Quote of the night:
Vic - “You can’t do a right hand turn on a bike”
Magazine of the Week:
Can only be Cycling Plus (http://www.cyclingplus.co.uk/) with "great advice" in the December's issue, "for you and your bike, including: Sex and weight loss; Ride like a caveman; New Year's resolutions; Pedal yourself younger; Turbo training tips; " - all items in Dean's New Years wish list !
Pics of the Week:
As the topic of the week has really got to be Dean's cycling passion, I thought a little light reading might come in useful, from a book I found on Amazon...

but seriously, and finally for the bike gags, until next week, this is the real reason for Dean's desire to cycle to work, and has got to be THE perfect present for Dean :

That's all for this week, but if you have any suggestions (especially “Bring back JJ”), they will be greatly appreciated for (possible) future inclusion.
B.
